To know Jesus and make Him known in Sunbury, greater Columbus, and the ends of the earth.
We believe that the purpose of every local church is to glorify God by the quality of our life together. Our Core Values describe the sort of culture that we are working together and praying toward. These are the things we hope you will notice if you visit with us. Additionally, these are the things we want you to help us with if you join us.
Every individual struggles with the tension of righteousness and identity. Mankind was made to long for a sense of acceptance, approval, security, and significance—because we were designed by God to find these things in him. When we cling to the gospel, we realize that God is pleased with us because he is pleased with Jesus. Our righteousness is in Christ from the moment of salvation. The good news found in the Gospel is that we are no longer defined by our sin, but rather we are liberated from it. By centering our lives on the truths of the gospel, we are freed to know Christ and make him known.
When we gather for worship each week, we come to listen to what God has told us about who He is and what He has done. We want our primary focus on Him, not on ourselves or what’s happening on stage. So we read together from the Bible. We pray the Word based on what we hear. We sing songs to honor God and to encourage each other. And we spend a lot of time teaching and preaching verse-by-verse through sections of the Bible, working to understand what they mean and how we should respond to what God is teaching us. At Grace Church, we believe that the hope for our lives is the message of truth that God has given us in His Word, the Bible.
Our weekly gatherings are central to our life as a church together, in part, because they give focus to our relationships with one another. They equip us for our ministry to one another. We grow as Christians when we practice the Biblical “one-anothers”. We need help to see how the message of the gospel affects the details of our lives. For us to grow as followers of Jesus, every one of us depends on others to teach us, encourage us, and show us what we may not see about ourselves. And every one of us is responsible to give that same care to others. We want to build a culture where it’s normal for us to disciple one another.
Our people seek to be generous, thoughtful, and warm; graciously welcoming people into a loving community. At its core, the gospel is a reality that welcomes people into the family of God through Jesus Christ. We seek simply to emulate our Savior in welcoming those through radical hospitality.
Missions is the worldwide pursuit of seeking and making disciples of every tribe, tongue, and nation. From creation, God has been concerned with “all nations,” not merely those who share our language and culture. God is unfathomably glorious, and man is sinfully lost. Therefore, the life-changing Gospel has been stewarded to the church to reach those who do not yet know the great goodness of our God.
