Scripture is clear that believers formally commit themselves to an identifiable, local body of believers who have joined together for specific, divinely ordained purposes!

A local church is an assembly of specific Christians in a geographical area who are committed to gather regularly as worshippers and witnesses of Jesus. Whether the church of Antioch (Acts 13:1), Rome (Rom. 1:8), Corinth (1 Cor. 1:2), the churches in the region of Galatia (Gal. 1:2), or a church addressed in Revelation (2-3), the Bible consistently refers to the “church” as a local assembly of believers. In fact, of the roughly 109 times the word “church” is used in the New Testament, nearly all of them refer to a particular local church.
