Grace Church,
From the beginning, we’ve said we want to be a church built on the Word, shaped by the gospel, and ordered according to God’s design. And this Sunday marks a huge step in that desire, the start of our first deacon nomination process.
Beginning on October 20 through October 27, church members can nominate up to two qualified men to serve as deacon and alternate. These should be men who reflect the heart of Acts 6:3 and the character laid out in 1 Timothy 3:8–13, a servant-hearted, faithful, spirit-filled, and already caring for the needs of others in consistent ways.
The role of deacon isn’t about status or title but about service. Deacons come alongside elders to meet practical needs, encourage unity, and help the whole church flourish. This isn’t just a box to check; it’s a step of obedience that we believe will strengthen our church and serve the mission of Christ for years to come.
You’ll be able to submit nominations on paper this Sunday or through an online link that goes live Sunday morning. After nominations close next Sunday (Oct 27), we’ll prayerfully evaluate the names put forward. Then at our members’ meeting on Saturday, November 2, we’ll vote to affirm one deacon and one alternate.
We will speak more to this on Sunday, so be ready to hear from Acts 6 and see how God calls His church to recogize servant leaders.
Grateful to be walking through this with you,
Jordan
